Former double UFC champion Conor McGregor knows what Alexander Volkanovski has to do to beat Islam Makhachev and take away the UFC lightweight championship belt from the Russian.
“I was in your place once, don’t forget it,” the Irishman wrote on social media, referring to the Australian. “Good luck. I’d say go tough like you did in the rugby days. Be a bowling ball. If I were you, I would do so. I don’t know what your physical condition is at the moment, but bowling ball style is your best chance.”
Last weekend at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi, Islam Makhachev won the vacant UFC lightweight championship belt with a second-round choke finish against Charles Oliveira, after which he announced his readiness to defend the title against Alexander Volkanovski, who owns gold in the featherweight division.
According to the plan of the strongest league in the world, the champion superfight should head the UFC 284 tournament in Perth, Australia on February 11.
