Former UFC lightweight champion, former top fighter of the organization, and UFC Hall of Famer Khabib Nurmagomedov can achieve no less success in coaching, according to Javier Mendez, head of the American Kickboxing Academy.
“He always coached, even when he competed,” the American specialist said in the next edition of the UFC Unfiltered podcast. “He sparred for five rounds and then he was right next to us and coached the guys. He always did this. His father taught him from an early age to take responsibility as both a fighter and a coach, and he is following in his father’s footsteps.”
“He learned from me, learned from his father – more from his father – and I think he is on the right track. Considering his age, the team, the fighters he has, and the way he manages it all, I think he is well on his way to being the greatest coach of all time. I think it’s meant to be”
As an undefeated coach, Khabib Nurmagomedov could achieve great success this year if Islam Makhachev can defeat Charles Oliveira on October 22 to win the vacant UFC lightweight championship belt, and Usman Nurmagomedov takes the Bellator lightweight championship belt from Patricka Freire on November 18 categories.
