UFC lightweight number four, Islam Makhachev, has revealed what he will do first after he finishes Charles Oliveira at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi on October 22 to become the new division champion.
“I am delighted because my dream is so close,” said the Russian in an interview with The National. “This moment is close – very soon I will become a champion. In my dreams, I take the belt and jump on the cage, because before I had never jumped on the cage, never sat on it. This is my dream, and I’m closer than ever to it.
“Charles is very dangerous – he always finishes his opponents, and is a danger both in the standing and on the ground. But I believe in my skills and I don’t think this is the biggest test of my career. Maybe I hit guys with more skills. But now he’s a champion, he’s on a good winning streak and he thinks no one can stop him. On October 22, I will do it – I will go into the cage and stop him. Since this guy has the most stoppage wins in the UFC, my goal is to finish him. I’ll take his record.”
Recall that the vacant UFC lightweight championship belt, which the Brazilian lost due to an advantage in the fight against Justin Gaethje, will be at stake in the fight.
