Francis Ngannou's team reacted to Jon Jones' statement

Despite Jon Jones’ announcement that he is gearing up to fight Stipe Miocic at UFC 282 in Las Vegas, Francis Ngannou’s team says their fight against the former UFC light heavyweight champion is in the works for next March.

This was announced in an interview with MMAJunkie by the coach of the current UFC heavyweight title holder Eric Nixic.

“I got a call from the UFC management asking: ‘What is the ideal time for your return and who do you see as the ideal opponent?'” – said the American specialist. “It would seem that no one cares about my opinion, so I was pleased to hear it”

“I said that ideally we need a fight in March against Jon Jones. The person who called agreed with this a million percent and said that this is exactly what they want. And that’s what Francis wants. They called to clarify how the recovery process was going and how long it would take me to prepare it.”

The announcement confirms what UFC president Dana White said last week that they plan to bring Jon Jones back into the octagon next spring.

As for Francis Ngannou, judging by the Predator training videos, his recovery from knee surgery is going according to plan.
